White Label SEO Agency Partnership
How to evaluate a white label SEO agency before your client relationships depend on it, and how I structure the partnership when agencies work with me.
Book 20 Minutes20 minutes, no pitch.
A white label SEO agency does SEO work for your clients under your name. Picking one is a decision about who gets to touch your reputation. A weak partner does not fail quietly: your client sees the problem, and your brand is on it.
This page is written for agency owners comparing partners. It covers what to check before you sign, how a partnership is set up, how reporting should work, and what a good provider will turn down. For the service itself, see white label SEO.
Vetting a white label SEO agency
Judge a partner on accountability before capability. Nearly every provider claims technical SEO, content and reporting. What separates them is who does the work and who answers when it goes wrong. Five questions are worth asking before you send a client:
- Who does the work? Delivery by an in-house team and delivery by per-project freelancers are different products. Know which you are buying. Mine is in-house and I manage it directly.
- Who picks up when something breaks? You want a named person. A ticket queue will not do.
- Can they explain a recommendation in plain terms? You will have to defend it to your client.
- What is out of scope? A provider that says yes to everything has not looked hard at what it can deliver. My scope excludes link building and digital PR.
- Can you start small? One client, one scope, before anything larger.
How the partnership is structured
You own the client relationship. The partner owns delivery. Keep that line sharp and most other problems stay small.
With me it starts when you send a client or a scope. I review what is there, agree the work and the reporting cadence with you, and collect the access I need. Delivery then follows a regular cycle, typically monthly, against the plan we agreed. You can begin with one client, and a long-term contract is not required to try it.
Structure matters more than price here. SEO is a process, and a provider that reshuffles its approach every month gives you nothing stable to build a client report around.
Write down three things at the start: what the partner will deliver each cycle, what you must supply (access, approvals, client contacts), and how a change of scope is agreed. Most friction in white label work traces back to one of those being left vague.
Communication and reporting under your brand
Under your brand means your clients never see the partner. Reports carry your name and messages reach clients through you.
That puts a demand on the reports. Someone who does not do SEO should be able to read them, and you should be able to send them as they arrive. An hour spent reformatting every report eats the time white label was supposed to save.
Agree how questions travel, too. Clients ask things you cannot answer, such as why a ranking slipped or why a page is not indexed. The partner's reply should reach you quickly and in words you can forward.
Ask to see a sample report before you commit. You are checking whether the language fits your clients and whether you could send it today with your logo on it.
What a white label SEO agency should refuse
A good partner will not put your client at risk to make a number move. Any of these is a reason to walk away:
- Guaranteeing a ranking or a traffic figure. Search results are not under any provider's control.
- Buying links or running schemes built to manipulate rankings.
- Contacting your clients or trying to sell to them.
- Publishing changes to a client site that you have not approved.
- Hiding a problem. If a change causes a drop, you hear it from the partner first.
Where this arrangement fits poorly
It is a weaker match when you plan to build SEO into your own team over the next year. Read white label SEO vs. an in-house team first, because the better answer depends on how much control you need and how quickly.
Pricing is quoted per engagement and is not published. The reasoning is here, along with what to bring so the quote is accurate.

FAQ
What is a white label SEO agency?
A white label SEO agency delivers SEO work for another agency's clients under that agency's own brand. The client relationship, the invoice and the reporting stay with the agency, and the provider stays behind the scenes so the client only ever deals with the agency.
How do I choose a white label SEO agency?
Check who does the work, who you speak to when something breaks, whether the partner can explain its recommendations, what sits outside scope, and whether you can start with a single client. Accountability matters more than a long service list, because your name is on whatever the client sees.
Should a white label SEO agency guarantee rankings?
Treat a ranking guarantee as a warning sign, because no provider controls search results. A good partner commits to a defined scope, a regular cadence and honest reporting, and says plainly when an outcome is outside anyone's control, such as an algorithm change.
Will my clients find out I use a white label partner?
Not when the partner is set up properly. Reporting and communication carry your brand, and the partner does not contact your clients or sell to them. That separation is the core of a white label arrangement, and you should confirm it in writing before work starts.
