SEO Consultant for Agencies
I find where your agency's SEO work is weak, tell you what to change first, and give your team the direction to fix it. Delivery stays with you.
Book 20 MinutesTwenty minutes to scope what a review would cover.
An SEO consultant for agencies is brought in to look at how the agency does SEO and say what is wrong. The agency keeps its clients and its delivery. The consultant supplies an experienced view the team may not have in-house.
I have 15 years in SEO. Nine of them went to running W3whiz as an agency owner, and I spent 2+ years as a Product Manager at Search Atlas managing 5 engineers. I have watched agency SEO go wrong from inside the agency and from inside the tooling, so I look for the problems owners tend to miss in their own shop.
Questions I am usually asked to answer
The output of a review is a diagnosis and a prioritized list your team can act on. The questions behind it tend to be these:
Not every agency has all four questions. Most have one that keeps coming back, and that one is where I start. A review can be narrow, for example only technical recommendations across five accounts, or wide, covering the whole path from intake to the monthly report.
- Are our technical recommendations correct, or does every client get the same checklist?
- Why do some accounts grow while others stall, and does the cause sit in strategy or execution?
- Could our audit method hold up in front of a skeptical client?
- Where should the next ten specialist hours go?
How an SEO consultant for agencies reviews the work
I read the work as the client receives it, then judge it as a practitioner would. That means real deliverables: audits, roadmaps, briefs, reports and the changes that went onto client sites.
I check whether recommendations follow from evidence about that site, whether the priorities make sense, whether reports show movement or only activity, and whether the same mistake repeats across accounts. Handoffs get attention too, because many agency SEO problems begin when work passes between people. A sample of accounts is usually enough to see the pattern. I do not need access to everything.
I also read client-facing material the way a client would. A report that cannot answer the question the client is asking, usually whether the money is working, gets flagged. Findings come in plain language so account managers can use them with clients.
Consultant, fractional lead or audit
A consultant engagement is bounded: a question, a review, recommendations and a handover. It fits when the team can fix the problem once it has been named.
Ongoing senior oversight is a different arrangement, the fractional SEO consultant. A leader accountable for the whole function is the fractional head of SEO seat. A formal assessment of a single site is a stand-alone SEO audit. A consultant also suits a decision such as building an in-house team or handing delivery to a partner, which the post on whether to outsource your agency's SEO addresses.
After the diagnosis
You receive a written set of priorities, and we talk them through so your people can argue with them. I stay available for follow-up questions while the changes go in.
Some problems turn out to be about workflow and capacity, not SEO knowledge. When that happens I say so, and the work moves to agency utilization consulting. I will not stretch an SEO review into something you do not need.
Timing matters here. The best moment for a review is before a renewal conversation, not after it. If an account is already at risk, tell me on the booking call and the review starts there.
Limits of an outside view
An outside consultant sees a sample, so the diagnosis is only as good as the material your team shares. SEO outcomes depend on the site, the market, competitors and search engine changes, none of which I control, and I will not tie my recommendations to a traffic figure. What you get is a review standard and clear recommendations from someone who has run SEO delivery for years.

FAQ
What does an SEO consultant for agencies do?
An SEO consultant for agencies diagnoses weaknesses in the agency's SEO delivery and gives direction for fixing them. The review covers audits, recommendations, reporting and process, and the output is a prioritized set of findings. The agency keeps client ownership and carries out the changes.
How is this different from white label SEO?
A consultant advises your team, while white label fulfillment means another team does the SEO work under your brand. To make your own team better, hire a consultant. To have delivery handled for you, that is a separate service. The right choice depends on whether the gap is skill and oversight or capacity.
Do I need to give access to all client accounts?
A sample of accounts and deliverables is usually enough to see patterns in quality and process. Sharing client data should follow whatever confidentiality arrangement your agency already has with its clients, and we can agree the scope on a call.
Can you guarantee SEO results for my clients?
Guarantees are not possible, because outcomes depend on the site, competition and changes at search engines. I provide an experienced diagnosis, a clear review standard and direction your team can act on, along with a plain view of what is likely and what is uncertain.
